Agnes P. Greenfield, 97, of Castlewood, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, in Castlewood, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood.

Agnes TeKrony was born August 18, 1919 to Anton and Delia (Wiekamp) TeKrony at their home in rural Hamlin County. She attended rural school Hamlin #1 near the family farm. Agnes worked for several families in the Castlewood area during the war.

On June 15, 1940 Agnes married Peter E. Greenfield in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She worked by his side as a farm wife, while raising their five children until Peter's death in April 1966.

After Peter's death Agnes moved into Castlewood. During these years Agnes worked as a custodian for the local bank. She also had an alteration and upholstery business in her home, and partnered with Anne Rindels painting and wall papering many homes in the area.

Agnes was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Castlewood, and was an active member of Circle, UPW, and a Sunday School teacher. She also was a 4-H leader for the Stray Horse Valley 4-H club for over 25 years. Agnes enjoyed baking pies, and everyone loved her angel food cake and the coffee pot was always on. She loved to travel with her sister-in-law Stella Woertink as they took many bus tours together visiting many sites in the United States. Gardening and crocheting always kept her busy, and she never turned down a good game of pinochle, or games and puzzles with grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Lois) Greenfield and Roger (Marilyn) Greenfield both of Castlewood, SD; two daughters, Mary (Bill) Edmonson of Lawton, OK and Marsha (Terry) Carl of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Tesch of Watertown, SD, Verna Borgmann of Burnsville, MN and Norma Krause of Goodwin, SD; one brother, Lloyd TeKrony of Clear Lake, SD; four sisters-in-law, Agnes "Tommie" Greenfield of Castlewood, SD, Vivian Greenfield of Watertown, SD, June Greenfield of Tucumcari, NM and Rose Greenfield of Brookings, SD; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Agnes was proceeded in death by her husband, Peter; son, Rick; her parents; three brothers, James, Albert and Willis; three sisters, Gertie, Evelyn and Phyllis.
