Alan L. Anderson, 70, of the Bruce area passed away on September 9, 2026, due to a motor vehicle accident. Funeral will begin at 5pm, September 30 at Geise Funeral Chapel in Estelline, SD. Visitation with family present will begin one hour prior.

Alan Lavern Anderson was born Dec 28, 1955, in Volga, SD to Carroll and Beverly (Odom) Anderson. He attended Bruce, SD elementary until 7th grade when he moved to Sioux Valley in Volga, SD and graduated from high school in 1974.

He worked on the farm growing up. He traveled to Rapid City and worked in the Homestake mine and local auto shops. He then returned to the farm after an injury to continue farming. Later in life he was an odd job man doing tree cleanup to truck driving.

You could find him in his spare time joining a game of pool or 3 ball at the local pub. He enjoyed his small dollar bets or drinks. He will be remembered by his laugh that encompassed more than merth. We would also from time to time see him helping some stranded soul family, friend or stranger on the side of the road.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Cory Anderson and Michael Froelich of Sioux Falls; siblings, Jerry (Nancy) Anderson of Volga, SD, Joan (Andy) Carter of Brookings, SD, David (Kay) Anderson of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene and Rolland, sister, Judy; brother-in-law, Tom McFarland and three nephews, Lee, Danny and Jeremy.
