Alvin W. Hansen Estelline, South Dakota Funeral Service 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2005 Estelline American Legion Hall Estelline, South Dakota Richard Harbur and Dennis Hause, Officiating Interment Hillcrest Cemetery Estelline, South Dakota Visitation 4PM to 8PM Thursday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline. The family will be present from 6PM to 8PM Alvin W. Hansen, son of Alfred and Anna (Ramsey) Hansen, was born March 18, 1912 in Lake Norden Township, Hamlin County, South Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Lake Norden Township and as a young man moved to Bend, Oregon where he owned and operated a service station. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Tuin on November 10, 1938. They returned to the Hayti, South Dakota area in the early 1940s where they farmed and later moved to a farm near Estelline. They continued to farm until retiring and moving into Estelline in 1977. They entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in 1999. Alvin died at Estelline on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 19 days. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and family days. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Gertrude of Estelline; two daughters, Dorothy Bergh and her husband Jim of Spicer, MN, Judy Bergh and her husband Dale of Canton, SD; four sons, Thomas Hansen and his wife Fern of Kindred, ND, Robert Hansen and his wife Viv of Jefferson, SD, Roger Hansen and his wife Diane of Prairie Farm, WI, Kenneth Hansen and his wife Ellen of Estelline; one son-in-law, Leland Miller of Woodbury, MN; 27 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Lillian Bakken of Sioux Falls, SD, Gladyce Swenson of Albany, Oregon; three brothers, Charles Hansen and his wife Shirley of Lake Norden, SD, Howard Hansen and his wife Ann of Hayti, SD, Milton Hansen of Woodburn, Oregon; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Miller; his parents; one sister Rena Olsen; and one brother Clinton in infancy.
