Terry Drew, Officiating Interment Bemis Christian Reformed Church Cemetery Rural Clear Lake, South Dakota Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home - Lake Havasu City, AZ Geise Funeral Home - Estelline, SD ANJE (ANNA) WILDEBOER VAN STRYLAND On September 13, 1905, in Hekkum, Groningen, the Netherlands, the Lord blessed Hendrik Wildeboer and his wife Bouktje Tilstra Wildeboer with a daughter, Anje. The three of them traveled across the Atlantic Ocean on the S. S. Ryndam and entered the United States through Ellis Island on May 7, 1907. They settled in Patterson, New Jersey, where Anna?s brother William Henry Wildeboer was born on November 13, 1907. After living in New Jersey a few years, the Wildeboer family moved first to Ireton, Iowa, and then to Bemis, South Dakota, in 1913. As a young girl, Anna attended the Bemis School, and as a young woman, she was a member of the Bemis Christian Reformed Church, where she confessed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1925 at the age of 20. Anna?s faith in God has always been a primary focus in her life. On July 3, 1940, Anna was united in marriage to Cornelius (Neil) Van Stryland. They farmed west and south of Bemis until 1957 when they moved to Bemis. Cornelius and Anna were blessed with two children, Nelda and Harold. The Bemis Christian Reformed Church continued to be a major force in their lives. Neil passed away on August 19, 1976. The following summer Anna moved to Redlands, California, to be near her daughter. Anna lived in her own apartment in Redlands for 19 years, after which, in 1996, she went to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Blue Jay, California. They moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on September 13, 2000, on Anna?s 95th birthday. There, last Saturday, Anna was carried to her glory. Anna Van Stryland was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband. She was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful volunteer in times of need. We, Anna?s family, thank God for giving her to us, and in return give her back to live in eternal glory with her Heavenly Father. Anna is survived by a daughter, Nelda and husband Larry Van Engen of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; a son, Harold and wife Elsie Van Stryland of Pella, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Van Engen and Jill and Carl Van Stryland; 2 step-grandsons, Michael and Phillip Van Engen; 1 great-granddaughter; 5 step-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Florence Wildeboer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Today Anna lives in eternal peace with her Lord, her parents, her brother, and her husband.
