Ardith J. Niemann, 84, of Goodwin, passed away Wednesday, October, 11, 2017, under hospice care. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Hamlin Reformed Church, in rural Castlewood. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday at the church. Geise Funeral Chapel in assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hamlin Reformed Church.

Ardith Jean Gaede was born on April 1, 1933 at her home in Deuel County, SD, the daughter of George and Ethel (Miller) Gaede. She was raised with her siblings in the Clear Lake area. She attended school in Goodwin and Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1951. Following school, she worked at the Deuel County National Bank. She was united in marriage to Bernard Niemann on September 11, 1955, in Clear Lake, SD. The couple raised four sons while living in the Clear Lake area until 1973 when they bought a farm near Goodwin.

Ardith chose to stay home with her children and help Bernard on the farm. She was a member of the Hamlin Reformed Church. She enjoyed reading magazines, playing cards, visiting with friends, and tending to her plants and flowers. She was an excellent baker, her family at home and her church family enjoyed the many cookies, bars and Christmas treats that she made faithfully. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Ardith had tremendous faith in the Lord that she would share by her actions and service to others. She was loved and respected by many.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bernard Niemann, of Goodwin, SD; four sons, David (Joan) Niemann, of Clear Lake, SD, Ronald (Dana) Niemann, of Clear Lake, SD, Kevin (Stacy) Niemann, of Castlewood, SD and Brad (Tammie) Niemann, of Aberdeen, SD; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Dahlgren, of Watertown, SD, Arlene (LeRoy) Klavetter, of Brookings, SD, Karin (Arnie) Severson, of Clear Lake, SD and Dorla (Terry) Thiele, of Maple Grove, MN; four brothers-in-law, Merle (Deanna) Niemann, of Estelline, SD, Hank (Phyllis) Niemann, of Clear Lake, SD. Kenneth (Jackie) Niemann, of Arlington, SD and Ole Olerud, of Clear Lake, SD and two sisters-in-law, Doris Schiefelbein, of Clear Lake, SD and Carol Niemann, of Castlewood, SD.

Ardith is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Luverne Gaede; two sisters, Marvel (Jerry) Dumke and Cleo Olerud; and in-laws, Herb Dahlgren, Jerry Dumke, Orville and LaVonna Krause, Bud Schiefelbein, Lester Niemann and Joanne Niemann.
