Arlene Verhoek, 93, of Estelline, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Due to current health concerns, private family services will be held. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arlene Boender was born on September 14, 1926, in Hospers, IA, the daughter of Johannas and Rena (DeBoer) Boender. Arlene grew up and received her education in Hospers. She was united in marriage to Gerret Verhoek on August 27, 1953, at her parent's home. After their marriage, they farmed until 1989, when they moved into Estelline, SD.

She was a member of Hamlin Reformed Church. She was a past member of the Bemis Christian Reformed Church. Arlene enjoyed playing the piano and playing games. Arlene was a talented gardener and always loved hosting her family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her son, Gary (Kathy) Verhoek of Estelline, SD; two grandsons, Chris and Adam; great grandson, Jack; one sister, Josephine VanOort of Denver, CO and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerret; her son, Harold; four brothers, Claude, Henry, John and one in infancy and two sisters, Lucretia and Adriana.
