Artie (Van Den Bosch) Heibult, daughter of Neal and Bertha (Scholtema) Van Den Bosch, was born April 21, 1923, at Doon, Iowa. She spent her early years in Hamlin County, South Dakota, and received her education in Hamlin County rural school. She met and was later united in marriage to James W. Heibult on November 22, 1944, in Dempster, South Dakota. Artie was employed at Dakota Industries, the bakery in Flandreau, Otis Radio and Electronics in Canton, Parkview Nursing Home in Volga and also worked for a short time at the Prairie Café in Brookings. She moved to Estelline in January of 1987, spent a few years in Arlington and moved to Sioux Falls in 2004. Artie died on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Covington Heights in Sioux Falls at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 4 days.


She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.


Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Gene Heibult and his wife Julie of Sioux Falls; a son-in-law, Cliff Zeeck of Arlington, SD; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Tillie Kooi of Rock Valley, IA, Sadie Echelberger and her husband Bob of Mason City, IA, Marion Mulder and her husband Edward of Volga, SD, Lydia DeJong of Orange City, IA and Stella Menning and her husband Bob of Edgerton, MN; a brother-in-law, Herb Weinberg of Dempster, SD; and a large number of nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband James on April 4, 1999; two daughters, Kathleen and Diane; three brothers; and four sisters.
