Brad Nielson, son of Red & Fern Nielson, was born April 18, 1950 in Watertown, SD. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Madison High School. Brad then attended Huron Presbyterian College on a Presidential Scholarship where he majored in Theology and hoped to one day become a pastor. Brad later moved back to Madison where he spent the majority of his life. Brad died peacefully on January 18th at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden, SD from cancer at the age of 60.
Brad loved playing sports as a kid and was the best at whatever he did. He earned trophies from diving, tennis, shooting marbles, baseball, track, but most of all he loved basketball. As a Sophomore in high school Brad was starting as a guard on the varsity team. He also loved his band and played tuba in the SD Allstate Band for several years. Brad also loved playing jazz on the piano and being in the school plays. But Brad loved the Lord, his friends and his family most of all.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three brothers, Jay (Silvia) of Atlanta, GA, Bruce of San Diego, CA, Terry (Nenne) of San Deigo, CA and one sister, Julie (Bob) Severson of Lake Norden, SD. Brad loved and always wanted to know about his nieces and nephews; Amber, Aaron, Adam, Christina, Ryan, Jeremy, Angela, Kim, Clara & Maggie. He was preceded in death by his mom & dad.
Brad left us with his favorite scripture that he lived his life by: But Thou shall keep Him in perfect peace whose mind stays on Thee Isaiah 26:3. Brads funeral service will be held Saturday, January 22nd at the Covenant Church in Lake Norden, SD at 2:00 PM.
