Brian Eugene Miller was born March 6, 1964 at Watertown, South Dakota to Sam and Janis (Rasmussen) Miller. He grew up in the Watertown area until his early teen years at which time he and his father moved to Hamlin County. Brian became close friends to the families of Felix and Mary Kopman and Wesley and Janice Efraimson. He attended Hamlin Schools and was confirmed in faith at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of rural Lake Norden where he remained a member until his death. Brian met his wife Edith Kangas in his teens and they were united in marriage on March 3, 198. He worked in the excavation business for most of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and also paid special attention to his sons and their friends and to many young friends in the community. He was stricken with an undiagnosed illness in the summer of 2004 and passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005 at the age of 41 years. Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Edith; sons, Randy and his wife Amanda and their daughter Alyssa, and Dallas and Sam at home; his mother and step-father, Janis and Herb Butts of Watertown; one sister, Shirley Gerte Jensen; his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Ruth Kangas of Lake Norden and their entire family; his God parents, Harold and Selma Laabs; his sister-in-law, Donna Miller and her family; and a host of other relatives and friends. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Sam Miller; a brother, Warren Miller; a sister, Eva Marie Conley; and a nephew, Randy Miller.
