Charles Peter Smith, 92, of Lake Norden, South Dakota, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 due to natural causes. He was born at rural Erwin, SD on April 20, 1932 to Eddie and Esther (Berger) Smith.

Charles served in the US Air Force for four years, worked at Cy Jensen's Gas station, and then was a farmer until his retirement. Charles was also a substitute mail carrier for 12 years. On June 2, 1956, Charles married Audrey Joanne Johnson. Together they raised their children on a farm in rural Hamlin County. Joanne passed away on September 12, 2022.

Charles was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He remained steadfast in his faith until his death. He enjoyed driving around the area and visiting his family & friends. He had much love and concern for his children, family, and friends.

Surviving him are his children: Michael (Kathleen) of Lake Norden, SD, Tamara (Philip) Granger of Sheridan, WY, Scott (June) of Lake Norden, SD, Autumn (Page) Rotschy of Yacolt, WA, Keith (Mary) of Lake Norden, SD, Wayne (LouAnn) of Hayti, SD, Roger (Roberta) of Lake Norden, SD, Sonja (Joe) Homola of Lake Norden, SD; sister Joy Tormanen; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death, his wife Joanne, parents, brothers Elwood, Donald, Leonard and Marvin, grandson Logan Smith, granddaughter Laurel Smith and six great grandchildren.
