Cynthia Kay Cindy (DeWall) Brandsrud, daughter of Leonard and Joyce (Davis) DeWall, was born March 6, 1944 at Watertown, South Dakota. She attended school through the eighth grade in Watertown and then attended Washington Senior High School in Sioux Falls. Cindy was united in marriage to Bert Brandsrud at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline on March 31, 1962. She joined Bert at Ft. Riley, Kansas while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge they returned to Sioux Falls where they lived until moving to their farm near Estelline in 1967. They farmed and she worked various jobs including 20 years as a dietary aid at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. She died on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 64 years and 25 days. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Cindy also enjoyed working with the staff and residents of the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Bert of Estelline; one son, Wade Brandsrud and his wife Deb of Estelline; two grandchildren, Rusty and Nicky; one sister, Gail Buie and her husband Jim of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Glen Christensen and his wife Kathy of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Donna Suddeth.
