Clarence James Buschenfeld, 88, Clear Lake, South Dakota, passed away June 11, at the Good Samaritan Society at Clear Lake. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday June 15, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Michael Enderle officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline, with the gravesite Military Honors conducted by the Estelline Aux. Post 184. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
Clarence Buschenfeld was born on December 21, 1928, at Toronto, S.D. to John and Bena Buschenfeld. He grew up living by Toronto on the family farm.
Clarence was drafted into the army and served active duty from Sept. 27, 1951 to Sept. 11, 1953 spending time in Greenland and also Korea. He then transferred to the Army reserves Sept. 12, 1953 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 1, 1959.
Clarence married Delores Chenoweth on Feb. 20, 1956. The couple farmed one mile from the family farm in Grange Township, Deuel County near Toronto.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Delores, of 61 years of marriage, two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Kasdorf of Brookings, Shirley (Dan) Krause of Estelline, three grandchildren, Travis (Mindy) Fiance' Krause of Estelline, Katelynn (Joshua) Larson of Herriod, Kendal Krause of Estelline. One great granddaughter, Maci Larson of Herriod. One brother, Raymond, of Clear Lake, two sisters, Alberta Weinberg of Brookings, Lillian (John) VanDykhorst of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Melvin Buschenfeld
