Clarence Harold Koistinen passed away on November 30th, 2018, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 87 years.  He was born December 23, 1930 to Charles G. and Ida (Tervo) Koistinen in rural Bryant, South Dakota. He attended Garfield and Cleveland Country Grade School and graduated from Lake Norden High School in 1949.  He married Marie Ann Kangas on September 29, 1956. He was a farmer his whole life and resided on the family farm from December 1941 until October 2011, when he moved into Lake Norden. He also worked at Hamlin County Implement and for Hamlin County Conservation District.

He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. His family and Christian friends were near and dear to his heart. He was always his happiest when he was surrounded by them.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie, Lake Norden, children – Rodney (Sue) Koistinen of Bryant, South Dakota, Edith (Randy) Kopman of Datil, New Mexico, Laura (Ben) Williamson of Whitewood, South Dakota, Dorothy Babich of Sheridan, Wyoming, Darryl (Andria) Koistinen of Woodland, Washington, Donna (Melvin) Marttinen of Utopia, Ontario, Canada, Charles (Michelle) Koistinen of Lake Norden, South Dakota, Peggy (Chris) Geiger of Hayti, South Dakota, Darwin (Erika) Koistinen of Kalispell, Montana, Donald (Sharon) Koistinen of Battleground, Washington, Keith (Kaarina) Koistinen of Nottingham, Pennsylvania, 73 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Ethel Koistinen, of Estelline and Velda (Koistinen) Olson, of Lake Norden, SD; many nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant child, one grandson Carson Koistinen, two sisters, Elsie (Marvin) and Eldora (Erland), and ten brothers, Wesley (Bunnie), George (Lorraine), Wilbert (Clara), Verner (Helen), Allen, Elmer (Bertha), LeRoy (Ina Mae), Clifford, and infant, Harold.

Visitation will be at The Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 44768 SD Hwy 28, Lake Norden, SD, on Friday, December 7th, 2018, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  The funeral will be at The Old Apostolic Lutheran Church on December 8th, 2018, at 11:00 am.
