Clayton J. Roberts, son of James and Ruth (Stewart) Roberts, was born December 17, 1949 at Chamberlain, South Dakota. He grew up at Chamberlain and received his education there. On March 29, 1968 he married Darlys Kenobbie and to this union 10 children were born. He was united in marriage to Nancy Hoftiezer in 1994 in the Black Hills. They farmed near Chamberlain until moving to the Lake Norden area in 2009. Clayton also had a trucking business and was on a trip to Houston, Texas when he died of natural causes on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the age of 61 years. He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming and working with cattle and also enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Nancy of Vienna; 15 children, Kelly (Wayne) Foley of Bryant, SD, Kip (Allison) Roberts of Reliance, SD, Jess (Laura) Roberts of Brush Prairie, WA, Clayton (Denise) Roberts of Watkins, MN, Dee (Joel) Williamson of Moorcroft, WY, Tiffany (Cody) Williamson of Moorcroft, Jami Hamilton of Moorcroft, Christopher (Sarah) Roberts of Moorcroft, Kirk (Shelby) Roberts of Bryant, SD, Derek (Savanna) Roberts of Belle Fourche, SD, Jordan (Graci) Roberts of Laramie, WY, Jerad Roberts of Vienna, Hunter Roberts of Moorcroft, Ashton Roberts of Vienna and Auston Roberts of Vienna; one step-son Brandon (Misty) Hoftiezer of Ft. Pierre, SD; 55 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his mother Ruth Roberts of Sheridan, WY; four sisters, Irene Winkler of Sheridan, Sandy (Paul) Fordyce of Kalama, WA, Sally Stewart of Sheridan, Ilena (Tom) Hallstrom of Northeast, MD; three brothers, Archie (MaryAnn) Roberts of Whitewood, SD, Leon Roberts of Rapid City, SD, Val (Cindy) Roberts of Brush Prairie, WA; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Clayton was preceded in death by his father, one son Preston, and two grandsons, Jesse and Kyron. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, Lake Norden, South Dakota. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery.
