Harold Westra, Officiating Interment Bemis Christian Reformed Cemetery Rural Clear Lake, South Dakota Visitation One hour preceding services on Monday Cora (Nagelhout) Heemeyer, daughter of Everet and Betsy (Van Den Brink) Nagelhout, was born February 23, 1906 in Hamlin County, South Dakota. She attended rural school in Hamlin # 1 through the 8th grade, after which she lived with her parents on the family farm until her marriage to Johannas Joe TeKrony on December 7, 1927. After their marriage they farmed in Deuel County until Joes death on June 23, 1936. She and her two small children moved back to keep house for her father until 1942 when she moved to Clear Lake. She was employed at the DeHope Bakery and later at the Halse Dairy Store for many years. On May 2, 1961 she married Albert Heemeyer and they farmed in Hamlin County until moving into Castlewood in 1974. Albert died on August 1, 1989 and she continued to live in Castlewood until July of 1999 when she became a resident of the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Cora died there on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the age of 101 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was a life long member of the Bemis Christian Reformed Church where she was active in ladies aid and also taught Sunday School for several years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers while on the farm and also enjoyed reading and embroidery until she was no longer able to see. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and had spent three winters with her daughter before becoming a permanent resident of the nursing home. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Berdene Bleeker and her husband Raymond of Pipestone, MN; two step-daughters, Marjorie Bleeker of Sioux Center, IA, Violet Solsaa and her husband Maynard of Webster, SD; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Cora was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, one son Melvin J. TeKrony, two step-sons, Richard Bleeker and John H. Heemeyer, a daughter-in-law, Vivian Boardman; a step daughter-in-law, Augusta Heemeyer, a step-grandson, eight brothers and three sisters.
