Donald Schumacher, Officiating Interment Danish Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery Lake Norden, South Dakota Visitation 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden Curtis Koistinen, son of John Henry and Bertha Johanna (Yrjanson) Koistinen, was born April 4, 1933, in Cleveland Township, Hamlin County, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school at Cleveland #4. After his education he worked on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Pedersen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden on July 17, 1955, and they farmed at Erwin, South Dakota until moving to their farm west of Lake Norden in 1965. He continued to farm there until his retirement. Betty died on February 17, 1998, and Curtis died on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at his residence at the age of 75 years and 16 days. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden and the Bryant American Legion. He was baptized and confirmed in the Apostolic Lutheran Church. Curtis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed hunting as a young man. Grateful for having shared his life are four sons, Doug and his wife Rozann of Oceanside, CA, Bob and his wife Vikki of Erwin, SD, Dan and his wife Christi of Lake Norden, Ron and his wife Louisa of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Sherry Cline of Watertown, SD, Cindy Prouty and her husband Jerald of Bryant, SD; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou, his parents and two brothers, Loren and Allen in infancy.
