Curtis Williamson was born the third child to Martin D. and Thelma (Dane) Williamson on February 19, 1932 in Frederick, Oklahoma. He grew up on a farm in Tillman County, Oklahoma until he was 10 years old when the family moved to Dallas County, Texas and remained in that area until the family moved to Southern California in 1943. They lived in California for a time before returning to Texas. He joined the United States Air Force in 1949 and served many places around Texas, Illinois, Colorado and California. While in the Air Force Curtis was an aircraft electrical instructor and was honorably discharged on February 21, 1953. He worked on power plants and many public and private electrical projects throughout the southwest United States. He retired in 1998 and after his retirement did many odd jobs and handyman work for most of the familys neighbors in California. He moved to Tucson, Arizona because he loved the desert and lived there and the surrounding area until moving to South Dakota to be near his nieces and nephews. Curtis died on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 3 days.
He enjoyed prospecting and never met a dirt road he didnt like.
Grateful for having shared his life are one sister, JoAlice Boyd of Estelline; nieces and nephews, Drewcilla Anesse of Los Angeles, CA, Carl Sansbury of Rosemead, CA, Donna Nelson of Estelline, Grace Colombo of Arcadia, CA, numerous other nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Martin, one brother David and one sister Evelyn.
