Obituary

Dee M. (Langenfeld) Vetter, daughter of George "Judd" and Ida ( Haberly) Langenfeld, was born August 19, 1947 in Watertown, South Dakota. She grew up and attended school in Castlewood and graduated from Castlewood High School. Dee was united in marriage to Larry Vetter on August 17, 1963 at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Dee and Larry made their home in Castlewood and she was a daycare provider for many years and provided many "Dee" cakes and "Dee' rolls. Dee loved and supported all kids, young and old, cheering them on in whatever they were involved in. Her message she wants to still carry on is: THANKS FOR BEING A GOOD KID. Dee was a life long member of the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She loved to bake and was an avid supporter of all school activities. Dee died on Friday, September 19, 2014 at her home in Castlewood at the age of 67 years. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Larry of Castlewood; five children, Lynn (Jeanie) Vetter of Wilmington, NC, LaShell Berkenpas of Norwalk, IA, Vicki (Dennis) Strait of Castlewood, LeAnn (Jim) Erickson of Brandon, SD, Landon (Lindsey) Vetter of Castlewood; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Alexa, Kennedy, Kassidy, Lindsey, Haley, Abbey, Tess, Ellie, Liyah and Laken; three brothers, Larry Langenfeld of Castlewood, Jerry Langenfeld of Lake Norden, Wayne (Pam) Langenfeld of Watertown; three sisters, Beverly (Roger) Siefkes of Boise, ID, Gloria (Jerome) Ries of San Antonio, TX, Cynthia (David) Pommer of Castlewood; her in-laws, Richard (Janice) Vetter of Rochester, MN, Steve (Deb) Vetter of Castlewood, Carna (Gary) Kruse of Watertown; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Mary (Reitzel) Vetter, one brother Richard Langenfeld, her second mother Vera Cannon, one nephew Joshua Langenfeld and one niece Traci Siefkes. Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, September 22, 2014 at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 3PM to 6PM Sunday, September 21st at the American Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Lutheran Church Sunday School or Bible School.
