Delbert A. Koepke Estelline, South Dakota Funeral Service 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 6, 2007 Trinity Lutheran Church Estelline, South Dakota Interment Goodwin Cemetery, Goodwin, South Dakota Visitation 4PM to 7PM Sunday, June 24, 2007 Geise Funeral Home, Estelline, SD Delbert Axel Koepke, son of Leonard and Eleanor (Johnson) Koepke, was born June 24, 1934 at Bemis, South Dakota. In 1935 his family moved to Watertown, South Dakota and in 1945 they moved to Estelline. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1954 and worked in the Estelline area until moving to California in 1955. He was employed at Ford Motor Company until entering the U.S. Air Force in 1956. After his discharge in 1959 he returned to Ford Motor Company. He was also employed with a tobacco company for 10 years and then began work as a custodian for the Long Beach School System. He retired in the late 1990s and spent his summers in Estelline and returned to California in the winter months. Delbert died on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at his residence in Estelline at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 25 days. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline, the VFW in Watertown and the Moose Lodge in California. He enjoyed rodeos, horse racing, and watching his nieces and nephews in their various activities. Grateful for having shared his life are his brothers and sister, LeRoy Koepke and his wife Karen of Estelline, Beverly Donnelly and Larry Koepke, both of Lake Poinsett, Terry Koepke of Solvang, CA and Ron Koepke and his wife Kathy of Brookings; 15 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Paul Donnelly.
