Delores May Begalka, 93 of Estelline, SD passed away on Thursday November 7th, 2024 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in Estelline, SD. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Estelline Community Church in Estelline, SD. A Visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Estelline Community Church in Estelline.

Delores was born October 21st, 1931 on her family's farm in rural Bruce, SD to Claas and Vera (Wattawa) Saathoff.

Delores married Rolland Begalka April 18th, 1952. Together they worked on their farm outside of Estelline, SD. She enjoyed the hard work of farming and especially baling hay. As a long time 4-H leader, she enjoyed attending the county fair and state fair. Delores was very proud of her trophy for High Point Adult Livestock Judge at a South Dakota Hereford Field Day.

Delores was active in her churches, St Johns in Dempster and later the United Church of Christ in Estelline. She spent many hours volunteering at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Delores also worked as a waitress in Estelline at numerous cafes and enjoyed selling Avon.

Delores had many hobbies and was gifted at knitting, crocheting and doing puzzles. Over the years she made many afghans and doilies for friends and family. She enjoyed watching her children play baseball and attending their games, later in life she enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed watching her grand-daughters in their sporting events and 4-H activities over the years.

Delores is survived by her children, Kenny (Cheryl) of Clear Lake, Kathy Kaufman of Oldham, Gale (Kay) of Castlewood, Donnie (Stacy) of Castlewood, 10 grand-daughters, 9 great-grandchildren, sister Myrt Harvey of White.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rolland, parents, brother Harold, sisters Janet and Mable, son-in-law Ronnie Kaufman and special friend Don Jorvig.
