Delores "Dee" Ilene (Harman) Kolbeck, daughter of Kenneth and Anna (Verdoorn) Harman, was born May 23, 1933 in Boyden, Iowa. When she was six years old her family moved to a farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota. Dee was married to Les Popkes on January 23, 1953 in Slayton, Minnesota. In 1971 they moved to Salem, South Dakota where they owned and operated the Salem Bakery. In 1978 Dee and her six children moved to Lakewood, Colorado. Dee earned her degree at Barnes Business College in 1982. In 1989 she and her son Terry purchased and successfully ran a convenience store in Castle Rock, Colorado until 1999 when Dee partnered with her sons Bob and Terry in Lakeview Resort on Lake Poinsett. During her 15 years at Lakeview she was lovingly known as "Mom". This past spring she was able to fulfill a longtime desire to attend the Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa. Dee passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 at her home in Lake Norden at the age of 82 years. Dee loved cooking and baking and loved to please people with the food she served. Grateful for having shared her life are her six children; Bobby (Linda) Popkes of Arlington, SD, Tammy (Kevin) Lundquist of Mesa, AZ, Ricky (Trisha) Popkes of Canistota, SD, Cathy (Stan) Cordrey of Lake Norden, Terry (Kim) Popkes of Lake Norden, Vicky (Jeff) Urquhart of Sioux Falls; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Gilbertson of Alden, MN, Patsy (Dee) Sarbaum of Marion, ND; six brothers, Gordon (Marilyn) Harman of St. Peter, MN, Virgil Harman of Plankinton, SD, Larry (Joyce) Harman of Twin Valley, MN, Verlin Harman of St. Paul, MN, Alan Harman of Mankato, MN; Roland Harman of Minneapolis, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dee was preceded in death by Leslie Popkes in May of 2011; one son Micky; one grandson Curtis; her parents; and one brother Vernon Harman. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.
