Dennis L. Vander Waal Estelline, SD Dennis l. Vander Waal was born on August 11, 1942, in Volga, SD, the son of Arie C. and Marvella L. (Dahl) Vander Waal. He died on Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls at the age of 65. Dennis attended elementary school in Arlington, SD and continued his education at the Brookings High School. He enlisted in the Untied States Navy in 1959 and served during the Viet Nam Era until 1966. After returning from the military, he became a truck driver and Teamster which he continued to do until the time of his death. Dennis was united in marriage to Jeannena Wallace on August 28, 1989 in Sacramento, CA. He was also employed with road construction for the past six years. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, old cars, white water rafting, camping, all outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed following his son Dutch during the football and basketball seasons. Dennis is survived by his wife Jeannena of Estelline, SD; his children, Dutch of Estelline, SD, Kevin Atwell of Richland, WA, Jimmy (Peggy)Whitney, Darla (Eric) Nelson, Salina Vander Waal all of Eureka, CA; ten grandchildren; his mother Marvella Vander Waal of Brookings, SD; three sisters Shirley (Ray) Welch of Toronto, SD, Marilyn (Steve) McKinney of Arcadia, CA, Carolyn (Pete) Powell of Brookings, SD; and one brother Eugene (Judy) Vander Waal of Texas.
