Donald J. Saathoff, 65, of Estelline, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at his home in Estelline. Memorial Servies will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 30, 2022, at the United Church of Christ in Estelline. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.

Donald John Saathoff was born on March 25, 1957, in Brookings, SD, the son of James and Frances (Hawley) Saathoff. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1975. He furthered his education at Mitchell Vo Tech and completed his journeymen as an Electrician. He began his career in Gillette, WY, where he worked for Amex Mining for several years. Don moved to Texas and worked as a groundskeeper at a golf course before returning to South Dakota and settling in Watertown. He went back to school at Lake Area Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in electronics. He went on to work for Keloland TV in 1990. In 2000, he started working for 3M in Brookings. Don was united in marriage to Julie Wulf in 2001. Don retired from 3M in 2019

Don was an avid fisherman, and also found joy in hunting and camping. More than anything, he loved spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife Julie Saathoff; three children, Jessica (Andrew), Jason (Mariah) and Ashley (Austin); two brothers, Herb (Donna) Saathoff and Steve (Dawn) Saathoff; sister, Carol (Marv) Reihe and several nieces and nephews and his best friend Bo.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, James and Frances Saathoff; brother, Ray Saathoff; maternal and paternal grandparents and nephew, Greg Kranzler.
