Donald A. Seeklander, 75, of Castlewood, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19, 2016 at American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at American Lutheran Church. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald A. Seeklander was born on May 8, 1940 in Estelline, SD, the son of William and Mayme (Nelson) Seeklander. He attended Laketon District 35 Country School and graduated from Estelline High School in 1958. He attended South Dakota State University for a year before enlisting in the United State Air Force. Following his time in the service he moved back to the Estelline area where he farmed with his father. He moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked various jobs for Ed Schlampp until 1974 when he moved back to the family farm for a brief time. He worked as the City Engineer for the City of Estelline and later for the City of Castlewood until his retirement. After his retirement he enjoyed interacting with his many friends.

Don had a passion for music and sang on many occasions. His interest began when he sang for his 8th grade graduation. While in high school, he was part of a band called The Rebels and in his later years he would spend his time listening to his records. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the Estelline American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Greg) Martin, of Burnsville, MN; three grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley and Justin; one great grandson, Everett; three sisters, Rosalie (Jim) Ryan, of Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Jack) Mortenson, of Sioux Falls, SD and Betty (Lenny) Saathoff, of Estelline, SD and number nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Lori.
