Doris V. Kruger Lake Norden, South Dakota Doris (Minier) Spencer Kruger, daughter of Hiram and Augusta (Caley) Minier, was born April 23, 1909 on a farm near Esmond, South Dakota. She grew up, received her education and worked there. She married to Alexis P. Spencer at Carthage on October 28, 1928. They lived and farmed at several locations in Miner and Kingsbury Counties before moving to the Spencer family farm in 1941. In the early forties they purchased a store in Lake Norden which Doris operated until the early 1970s. Alexis died January 9, 1968. She married Lloyd W. Kruger at Lake Norden on November 3, 1973. Lloyd died on September 8, 2002 and Doris continued to make her home in Lake Norden. She died on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 95 years, 8 months and 7 days. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She and Lloyd devoted many hours to Meals on Wheels and enjoyed their summer home and fishing at Big Stone Lake, South Dakota. Playing cards was her favorite pastime. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Morrell Spencer of Lake Norden, SD and Della Olson and her husband Jerry of Waddell, AZ; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Larabee of Texas; and a multitude of other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two brothers, one sister and several half brothers and sisters. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, South Dakota. Interment by the family will be held at a later date.
