Dorothy Lorraine (Faehn) Blum, 76, passed away Thursday, February 13 th , 2020 at Ava's House, Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be held on from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, February 16 th , 2020, at Geise Funeral Home, Estelline, SD. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 17 th , 2020 at Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD.
Dorothy Lorraine (Faehn) was born February, 17 th 1943 in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Eva Morgan Faehn and Oscar Faehn. She moved to Estelline where she met Charles Louis Blum and got married on July 5 th 1959. Dorothy was a stay at home mom to her six children. In 1963 they moved to a farm on Hwy 81 near Hayti for 10 years then moved to a farm near Clear Lake, SD. She helped out her husband with the farming until his death in 1988. She continued to farm with the help of her son Greg. She went to work at Minnesota Rubber until she was laid off, then she worked at Technical Ordinance in Clear Lake until her retirement on February, 26 th 2016.
Dorothy loved puzzles, both jigsaw and puzzle books. She loved to read and play marbles. She collected glassware of pitchers and bowls. She was especially proud of her Victorian table she purchased that was large enough to accommodate her kids and their families.
She is survived by her children, Timothy Blum of Sioux Falls, Deborah (Blum) Schomaker of Watertown, Twila (Blum) Hanten (David) of Goodwin, Gregory Blum of Clear lake, Crystal Blum of Brookings and Brian Blum (Laurie) of Watertown. Nine grandchildren, Hope, Tara, Stephanie (Bob), Christina (Donnie), Jennifer (James), Charles, Lynne, Samantha, Joshua, and 13 greatgrandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Eileen Miller of Texas and Loretta (Gerry) Kalsbeck of Brookings, SD, brother, Earl (Vicky) Faehn of Minneapolis, MN, and sister-in law, Alice (Dave) Schulte of Wisconsin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Eva Faehn; husband, Charles Blum; brothers, Andrew Faehn, Gerald Faehn, and son-in-law, Timothy Schomaker.
