Dorothy (DeBoer) Sikkink, daughter of John and Annie (Kleinhexel) DeBoer, was born July 1, 1924 in Deuel County, South Dakota. She received her education in rural school in Deuel County and was united in marriage to Merle H. Sikkink on February 16, 1954 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Hamlin County near Castlewood. Merle died on April 3, 2003 and Dorothy continued to make the farm her home. She died at home on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the age of 88 years. She was an active member of Hamlin Reformed Church and enjoyed Bible Studies, Ladies Aid and all church activities. Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and especially loved spending time with family and friends. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Leanne Volk and her husband Myron of Lake Norden, Lori Koisti and her husband Kerry of Geneseo, IL; one son Rollie of Castlewood; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Bud DeBoer and his wife Phyllis of Brookings; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Merle, one infant son, one sister and four brothers. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Hamlin Reformed Church, rural Castlewood with Rev. Justin Wallick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery and visitation will be from 5PM to 8PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
