Dawson, son of Raymond and Caroline (Zebell) Dawson, was born June 27, 1930 in Estelline, South Dakota. He spent his early years and received his education in Clear Lake and Sunny View rural school. From 1950 to 1953 he served in the United States Air Force. After his discharge he worked construction in Illinois for 30 years until moving to Howard in 1986. In 1993 he moved to Humboldt, South Dakota and returned to Howard in 2006. He entered the Howard Good Samaritan Center in 2010 and died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 24 days. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed buying and selling antiques. Grateful for having shared his life are his brother, Ralph Dawson and his wife Marlys of Howard; and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Arlene Brown.
