Duane Arthur De Young Dallas, Texas (Formerly of Hayti, South Dakota) Duane Arthur De Young, son of Arthur and Barbara (Ihnen) De Young, was born May 4, 1957 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up in Hamlin County and graduated from Hamlin High School in 1975. Duane attended Dakota State University in Madison for one year and transfered to Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa where he graduated with a double major in music. He was united in marriage to Debra Huisman and a son Devin was born to this union. Duane taught in Christian school for two years, one school in Minnesota and one in Florida. He opened his clothing store, L&K Clothing in Orange City, Iowa and later lived in Minneapolis, Chicago, Toledo, Ohio and Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas he loved working for Tiffany and Company. Duane died on Friday, February 28, 2014 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 56 years. He is survived by his son Devin De Young and his wife Megan (Johnson) of Hospers, IA; one grandson Carson De Young; his parents, Arthur De Young of Brookings and Barbara (Dale) Ulvestad of Brookings; his siblings, Gary (Deb), Gina (Bill) Adamson and Jodi De Young all of Brookings; his partner Jose Soto of Dallas; and a host of other relatives and friends. His funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Friday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood. Burial will be in the Castlewood Cemetery.
