**************WEATHER RELATED POSTPONEMENT*************

-Dutch A. Vander Waal, 30, of Estelline, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Prairie Lakes Hospital, in Watertown. A visitation to celebrate his life has been postponed and rescheduled to 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Tuesday, March 16 , at The Estelline American Legion, with a time of sharing beginning at 3:30 pm. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dutch Arlington Vander Waal was born on June 15, 1990, in Arcata, CA, the son of Dennis and Nena (Wallace) Vander Waal. At the age of 3, Dutch and his family moved to Estelline, where he attended school and was a 2008 graduate of Estelline High School. Dutch furthered his education at Mt. Marty University, Williston State College, Presentation College and South Dakota State University where he obtained degrees in Psychology, Sociology and Business. He was currently working towards his Master's in Business Administration.

Dutch loved to have fun! He was a jokester often times pulling pranks on his friends, who were always like family to him. He enjoyed golfing, attended concerts, camping and playing boardgames, always accompanied by his friends. He was a health and fitness fanatic, and was very active in Strong Man competitions. He had a huge heart for all of those around him and was always reminiscing about the adventures of he and his buddies.

Dutch is survived by his loving mother, Nena Vander Waal, of Estelline, SD; two brothers, Kevin Atwell of Washington and  Jim Whittaker of California; two sisters, Darla Nelson and Selina Vander Waal, both of California; grandmother, Virginia Noteman, of Delaware, OH; grandfather, Coy Wallace, of Lincoln, CA along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis and grandparents, Marvella and Arie Vander Waal.
