Edward "Ed" Aderhold, 65, of Castlewood, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at his home under hospice care surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, March 4, 2023, at American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at the church. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Edward "Ed" Aderhold was born on August 17, 1957 to Kenneth Wayne and Anna Mae (Fritz) Aderhold. He grew up in Castlewood, SD where he graduated from the Castlewood High School in 1975. Following high school, Ed attended South Dakota State University for one year. College didn't appeal to him so he returned to the farm and never left. On December 19, 1981, Ed married Debra Boughton, to this union, 5 children were born.

One of Ed's favorite jobs was running the combine. He started this when he was just 13 years old and was thankful to have participated in over 50 harvests! He also milked cows for 23 years. Ed didn't have many hobbies as the farm kept him busy. Their family had a tradition of taking the pheasant opener off, this tradition started in the early 60's and went to present day. He enjoyed 4-wheeling with his son Eric checking crops, cattle and enjoying summer. He also looked forward to his Sunday lunches when his son Josh could take him out to eat and update him on how the Vikings or Twins were doing. Ed enjoyed his local fishing trips with friends, it was never about the fishing but about the stories they shared and the friendship they formed. Ed loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Ed was a lifelong member of the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood, SD and was always concerned about the life of the church. In his later years he became a member of the Pheasants Forever Club.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Debra; children, Nicole (Doug) Wold, Amanda (Brad) Rudebusch, Joshua Aderhold, Lacey (Jake) Severson and Eric Aderhold; grandchildren, Colton, Griffin and Corbin Wold, Brylee, Bria and Brexley Rudebusch and Claire and Hadley Severson; siblings, Fred (Sue) Aderhold, Mary (Bob) Hefti, Peggy (Ed) Toms, Betty McCormick, Linda (Kim) VanDyke, Larry (Liz) Aderhold and Gary (Jill) Aderhold.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anna Mae Aderhold; brothers-in-law, Pat McCormick and Gene Boughton; his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Lois Boughton and granddaughter Autumn Wold.
