Elaine (Pearson) Nelson, daughter of Melvin J. and Myrna F. (Nord) Pearson, was born June 17, 1933 at Flandreau, SD. She grew up in the Hendricks-Astoria area and attended school in Hendricks and Ivanhoe, MN. She was united in marriage to Wilfurd "Willie" Nelson on March 11, 1951 in Hendricks, MN. They moved to Estelline in 1966 and Elaine attended nursing school at Presentation College in Aberdeen, graduating in 1980. She was employed at the Estelline Hospital until its closing and then worked at the Clear Lake Hospital. During the winter months she worked as a nurse in Arizona. Willie died on February 3, 1995 and she continued to live in Estelline and winter in Arizona. Elaine was married to William Kingslien on April 7, 1999 and they continued to live in Estelline and winter in Arizona. She retired from nursing in 2003. Elaine died on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at her residence in Estelline at the age of 80 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline and was very active in church and community activities. Elaine was instrumental in beginning the Estelline women's exercise group. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband William Kingslien of Estelline; 1 son Bruce (Ronna) of Craig, CO; 3 daughters, Patricia IntVeld (Donald) of Glidden, IA, Julie Ellefson (Brian) of Waterford, WI, Amy Shimon (Brian) of Havelock, IA; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 step children; 9 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 1 brother Kenneth Pearson (Marge) of Hendricks; 2 sisters, Fern Nelson of Hendricks, Janet Johnson (Alan) of Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Wilfurd and her parents. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2013 at the United Church of Christ in Estelline.
