Ethel Delores Koistinen 98 of Lake Norden, SD passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Estelline Care Center, Estelline, SD.  Services will be held at a later date.

Ethel (Hedblad) Koistinen was born April 7, 1925 to Olaf and Ella (Morgan) Hedblad in Baddock ND.

She was confirmed on October 10, 1943, at the Zion Luthern Congregation in Braddock.   She graduated from Linton High School in 1945.   Ethel married Allen Koistinen on May 12 1947 and lived in the Lake Norden SD area.    Together they had 4 children, David, Alyce, Susan and Raymend.  After Allens passing in 1967, she worked at the Lake Norden Care Center for 27 years until her Retirement.  She met and formed a special bond with Harry Anderson.     Ethel enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing and daily drives with Harry to "check on you".

She is survived by her two daughters, Alyce (Terry) Johnson of Firesteel, SD and Susan (Mike) Petersen of Lake Norden, SD.  6 Grandchildren, Nancy (Steve) Rausch, Janel (Chris) Kopp, Mark (Megan) Johnson Todd (Gerri) Petersen, Rebecca (Paul) Beirne and Travis (Carrie) Petersen; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Hedblad and many neiece and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Ella; Husband, Allen; her two sons, David Koistinen and Raymond Koistinen and special Friend Harry Anderson.  Sisters, Alice Mackey, Hellen Morries, Ruth Hedblad, Marjorie Christensen, Martha Hussang, Maxine Philipps and Julia Perry; brothers, Andrew Hedblad, Oscar Hedblad and John Hedblad.
