Evelyn V. Kangas Lake Norden, South Dakota Funeral Service 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 11, 2004 Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Lake Norden, South Dakota Interment Apostolic Lutheran Church Lake Norden, South Dakota Visitation 5PM to 8PM Friday at the Old Apostolic Church Evelyn Viola (Lehtola) Kangas, daughter of John and Hilda (Johnson) Lehtola, was born April 16, 1915 in Hamlin County, South Dakota. She grew up and received her education in Cleveland Township, Hamlin County, South Dakota and was united in marriage to Edward R. Kangas on April 29, 1936 in Watertown, South Dakota. They farmed in Hamlin County until their retirement in 1975 and they continued to make their home on the farm in Cleveland Township. Edward died on August 5, 2001. Evelyn died on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was a baptized and confirmed member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Ronald Kangas and his wife Ruth (Blakeman) of Lake Norden, SD and Roy Kangas and his wife Luana (Korpela) of Dodgeville, MI; two daughters, Marilyn Homola and her husband Kermit of Hazel, SD and Mavis Van Schoiack and her husband Chris of Hayti, SD; 34 grandchildren; 114 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one brother, George Lehtola of Seattle, WA; two sisters-in-law, Odella Kangas of Bryant, SD and Alice Lehtola of Lake Norden; one brother-in-law, Henry C. Spurlock of Mississippi; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters; and five brothers.
