(Borstad) Peterson, daughter of Chris and Lizzie (Bredaken) Borstad, was born July 17, 1920 at Bruce, South Dakota. She spent her early years and received her education in rural Brookings County school district #56. She was united in marriage to Arthur J. Peterson on January 29, 1942 in Toronto, South Dakota. Arthur died on June 16, 1954. She was employed at Brookview Manor Nursing Home for five years and later as a housekeeper at Waneta and Pearson Halls at South Dakota State University for ten years. She retired in 1982. Evelyn died on Monday. September 15, 2003 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 28 days. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bruce, the Women's Circle and the Golden Age Club. Grateful for having shared her life are one son, Curtis Peterson of Bruce; three daughters, Dianne Holter and her husband David of Bruce, Linda Schulz and her husband Charles of York, NE, Sheryl Poppe and her husband Don of Jackson, MN; eight grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin Borstad and his wife Margaret of Estelline, SD, Erwin Borstad and his wife Fern of Brookings, SD; two sisters, Marian Borstad of Brookings, Betty Watne and her husband Arley of Buffalo, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one grandchild, two sisters, Clarissa Moe and Emma Rindels, and five brothers, Vernie, Ralph, Harold, Lorraine "Scoop" and Mert.
