Floyd Harold Haug was born on September 4, 1918, to Oswald and Artie (Goodroad) Haug in Hamlin County, where he attended school. He married Gladys Elaine Somsen on March 15, 1941, at the Hamlin Reformed Church, Castlewood, South Dakota. They farmed in Deuel County until his retirement in 1976, at which time they moved to Castlewood, South Dakota. Floyd died on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 91 years 7 months and 10 days.

As a lifelong member of the Hamlin Reformed Church, Floyd served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Elder and supported the church in numerous other roles. He also served the community as a school board member and a member of the ASC Board. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, boating and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Richard and Lyles families, the Somsen family and Robert Raasch family.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Gladys (Somsen) Haug, his son Lynn (Lillian) Haug of Lake Norden, SD, his daughter Wanda (Richard) Payant of Oldsmar, FL, his son Michael (Jean) Haug of Castlewood, SD, his brother Richard (Alice) of Clear Lake, SD; seven grandchildren, Stuart (Leah) Haug, Bryant, SD, Marcia (Don) Jones, Sioux Falls, SD, Gordon (Monique) Haug, Castlewood, SD, Kelly Haug, Castlewood, SD, Sean (Marla) Payant, Lincoln NE, Jason (Marie-Claude) Payant, Western Springs, IL, Dan (Dodi) Haug, Castlewood, SD, four step-grandchildren Mitchell (Haruka) Johnson, Honolulu, HI, Jennifer (Jonathan) Morris, Hartsdale, NY, Mike (Janelle) Jones, Sibley, IA and Michelle (Jay) Hauger, Rapid City, SD, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lyle Haug.
