Frances L. O'Dell, 85, of Volga, South Dakota, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 15, 2025, after living a long and full life.

Frances was born on June 22, 1940, to Robert L. and Mary King in North Venice, Illinois.

Frances met the love of her life, Vernon, while in her teens, in North Venice.  They were married on June 23, 1958.  Frances and Vernon went on to have five children; Robert, Vernon Jr., Brian, Karen and Julie.

Frances worked numerous jobs in her lifetime, including a cashier and bookkeeper. After moving to Estelline, SD, in 1988, she found her new passion and became a CNA at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center for 15 years until she retired. Frances spent her free time reading and having the cleanest house in the neighborhood. She dedicated most of her adult life to being a beloved wife, mother and homemaker.

Frances is survived by her sister Karen Mares; four children, Vernon L. O'Dell 11, Brian (Jackie) K. O'Dell, Karen (Mike) C. Filkins, and Julie A. Saathoff; 7 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and sister-in-law, Carol Hofland.

Frances was predeceased by her husband Vernon, her son Robert E. O'Dell, her sisters Donna and Della, her parents Robert and Mary and son-in-law Donald Saathoff.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am with Visitation prior from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Geise Funeral Chapel in Estelline, South Dakota.
