Tillma, son of Jacob and Niesje (Kleinjan) Tillma, was born July 28, 1921 at Hospers, Iowa. He received his education in rural school near Castlewood and following his schooling, began farming in Florence Township in Hamlin County. He was united in marriage to Darlene (Appel) Gerberding on July, 7, 1967 in Castlewood, South Dakota and they continued to farm until retiring in 1987. He died on Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 27 days. Frank was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, word puzzles and gardening. Frank also loved to golf and spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Darlene of Castlewood; two sons, Jerald Gerberding and his wife Robbin and James Gerberding all of Castlewood; four daughters, Judy Kranz and her husband Matt of Watertown, SD, Jacquelyn Mack, Joy Bruinsma and her husband Robert and Jolene Gerberding, all of Castlewood; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one sister, Janet Petershagen and her husband Richard of Ann Arbor, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Robert, Harry, George and Cornelius.
