William Hamill, Officiating Interment Castlewood Cemetery Visitation 4:00 PM to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood. Gale Roger Lewno, son of Roman M. and Sylvania C. (Snaza) Lewno, was born July 22, 1948 in Webster, South Dakota. He attended country school near Grenville until his family moved to Watertown, South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Ward on April 29, 1967 in Watertown. Gale worked for Lampert Lumber in Watertown, Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington and the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Hawarden, Iowa before moving to Castlewood in 1973 where he established a grain bin building business. In 1979 they moved to Chadron, Nebraska where Gale was employed at Chadron State College. In 1986 they returned to Castlewood and he was employed with Gerhold Brothers Construction until the early 1990s. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at his residence at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 27 days. Gale had a great sense of humor that was reflected through times spent with family and friends. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing pool with the guys and playing cards with whoever would sit down with him. Gale enjoyed hunting with his son and family. It was not uncommon for Gales weekends to be filled with fishing and camping with the whole family. Weekends were always filled and well prepared since we packed everything but the kitchen sink. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Cheryl of Castlewood; one son Ken Lewno and his wife Kris of White, SD; three daughters, Kristi Goldhorn and her husband Stef of Castlewood, Michele Smith and her husband Travis of Watertown, Melanie Carroll and her husband Brian of Castlewood; nine grandchildren; six brothers, Duane and his wife Shirley of Castlewood, Bill and his wife Carleen of Forest Lake, MN, Raymond and his wife Audrey of Watertown, Tim and his wife Mary of Castlewood, Tom and his wife Lucy of Yankton, SD, Jeff of Watertown: five sisters, Judy Cordell and her husband Vernon of Waubay, SD, Betty Freeseman of Watertown, Dottie White of California, Linda Waggener and her husband Don of Apex, NC, Sylvia Overmeyer and her husband Scott of Toronto, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and two brothers.
