He grew up in rural Hamlin County near Hayti, South Dakota and attended school in the Hamlin School District. Gary continued his education at South Dakota State University where he met his wife to be, Maria Rasmussen. They were united in marriage on May 29th, 1999. Gary and Maria made their home together near Lisbon, North Dakota where he worked as an engineer for Ingersoll-Rand in Gwinner, North Dakota. Gary died on Saturday, June 24th, 2006 near his home in North Dakota at the age of 27 years, 4 months and 29 days. Gary was a baptized and confirmed member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He was a loving and devoted husband and father to his family. He was much loved by those who knew him. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Maria and their children, Abby, Arden, Reid, Vivian and Rand; his parents, Kermit and Marilyn Homola of Hazel, SD; his brothers and sisters, Rhonda Hallstrom of Yacolt, WA, Tina Wells of Brush Prairie, WA, Ryan Homola of Davenport, WA, Dean Huumala of Hayti, SD, Kent Homola of Hayti, SD, Susan Beld of Hazel, SD, Sharon Mackey of Yacolt, WA, Alan Homola of Gillette, WY, Sara McDaniels of Yacolt, WA, Steven Homola of Hazel, SD, and their families; his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Carol Rasmussen of Maple Lake, MN and their children; and a host of other relatives and friends.
