George H. Feldhus Estelline, South Dakota George H. Feldhus, son of Gerhard and Ida (Dellingen) Feldhus, was born May 20, 1921 at Dempster, South Dakota. He received his education in Dempster and was united in marriage to Ruth Borsvold on April 17, 1946 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They farmed near Bruce, South Dakota until 1952 when they moved to a farm in Laketon Township in Brookings County. During his years farming, George also partnered with a neighbor in a corn shelling business and he attacked Leafy Spurge with a vengeance. He and Ruth retired in 1989 and moved into Estelline. George died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 91 years. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dempster where he held many offices within the church. He enjoyed hunting, playing baseball in his younger years, was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed playing cards. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Ruth of Estelline; two sons, Robert of Arlington, SD, Harlan and his wife Sue of Bruce, SD; one daughter Velma Kreul and her husband Jack of Hayti, SD; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by two daughters, Marsha and Wanda, his parents, one sister Anna Thompson and one brother George in infancy. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dempster. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline. Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline. Due to limited seating at the church, the family would like everyone to join them for lunch and fellowship at the Estelline American Legion following the burial service in Estelline.
