Gerald D. Anderson, son of Eric and Lena (Ramsey) Anderson, was born August 12, 1929 at Wilmot, South Dakota. He grew up in the Marvin-Milbank area and graduated from Lake Norden High School in 1948. Gerald was employed as an accountant with the Lake Norden Creamery which became Land O Lakes. He continued employment there until his retirement in 1993. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bajuniemi on August 23, 1957 in Lake Norden. She died on January 13, 1996. Gerald was then united in marriage to Mary Jane (Eastberg) Espland at his home in Lake Norden on December 9, 2007. He died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden at the age of 84 years. He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. For many years he was an active member of the Lake Norden Baptist Church and held many offices in the church during those years. He was also a member of the Gideons International for many years. Gerald enjoyed collecting guns and cameras, boating, hunting and fishing and spent time with his boys in the outdoors teaching them to hunt and fish. His most recent form of entertainment and relaxation was cruising the area on his motorcycle. Most important he was a very kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Mary Jane of Lake Norden; three sons, Kenneth and his wife Tammy of Bryant, SD, David and his wife Judi of Lake Norden, Paul and his wife Maria of Aberdeen, SD; one step daughter Peggy Santa Maria and her husband Roy of San Lorenzo, CA; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother Jim Anderson and his wife Bambi of Green Valley, AZ; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, two brothers, Warren and Gene and a great grandson Christian McGuire. A Celebration of Gerald's Life will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM Friday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.
