Gerald Herbert 'Jerry' Junker, 79, of Castlewood, SD, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at his home in Castlewood. Gerald was born to Herbert and Famay (Smith) on the Junker family farm, located near Oldham, SD, on November 21, 1928. He was raised and educated in the Oldham-Ramona area. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Ramona, SD. Gerald and Bernice Marcella Paul were united in marriage on January 1, 1949, at Ramona, SD. In 1961, he left the family homestead and moved to the Watertown area, where he worked for Codington Clark Electric and Cordell farms. In 1964, he moved to Castlewood and founded Junker Trucking with his son Lonny. Gerald was a member of the South Dakota Trucking Association and the American Lutheran Church of Castlewood. Gerald loved sharing time with his family and his Pug 'Buddy'. He also enjoyed camping, mowing lawn, and driving his semi-truck. Gerald was very caring and hardworking. He believed strongly in honesty, promptness and God. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bernice, son Lonny (Diane) of Castlewood, SD, daughter Linda (Doug) Buri of Milbank, SD, daughter Lois (Richard) Wiarda of Castlewood, SD, grandsons Adam Junker and Case Wiarda, three step-grandchildren, Heidi Haney, Austin and Brandon Wiarda, one step-great-grandson Ty Bleeker, along with many nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Betty Ann Mortinsen.
