Harold C. "Harry" Thue, son of Carl J. and Rachael (Bentley) Thue, was born July 14, 1933 at Bryant, South Dakota. He received his education in Lake Norden and graduated from Lake Norden High School. Harold then served in the U.S. Army in France from 1954 to 1956. After his discharge he continued his education at South Dakota State University and graduated in 1961 with a degree in agriculture. Following his marriage to Judy Knodel on July 10, 1970 in Lake Norden they farmed near Lake Norden until 1972. He was employed at Miracle Span which made steel buildings and they moved to Watertown in 1975. Judy died on December 9, 1986 and Harold returned to Lake Norden shortly after her death. He was employed at Davisco in Lake Norden from 1984 to 1997. He became a resident of the Lake Norden Care Center in 1997 and resided there until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake in 2013 to be near family. He died there on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the age of 80 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW in Lake Norden. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and reading. Grateful for having shared his life are one daughter Julie Donahue and her husband Mike of Clear Lake, SD; two sons, Steve Thue and his wife Barb and Allan Thue, all of Sioux Falls; one step-son Jayson Thue Maguire and his wife Renee of Watertown, SD; 11 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy; his parents; three brothers, Leroy, Kenneth and Orville; and one sister and brother-in-law Odella and Wesley Kangas. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be one hour preceding services at the church.
