Hazelle M. Nelson Lebanon, Tennessee (Formerly of Estelline) Funeral Service 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 8, 2003 United Church of Christ Estelline, South Dakota Rev. Joyce Anderson, Officiating Inurnment Hillcrest Cemetery Estelline, South Dakota Hazelle Mae (Brydahl) Nelson was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 16, 1924. At the age of two, she was adopted by Nels and Thea (Sorenson) Brydahl in Lake City, Florida. She spent most of her childhood on various farms throughout the Midwest. On her twenty-first birthday, March 16, 1945, she was married to Ray Ronald Nelson. After their marriage they farmed near Breckinridge, Minnesota for eleven and a half years, then lived in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, where Ray was employed as the elevator manager. During this time, they raised six children and later retired to Estelline in 1986. After Rays death in 1995, Hazelle lived in and around the Estelline area until moving to Lebanon, Tennessee in 2001. Hazelle was a member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline and enjoyed baking for friends and neighbors. She made the best doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate chip cookies She passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 while hospitalized in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 79 years. Hazelle is survived by her six children, Betty Even and her husband Larry of Britton, SD, Dorothy Fiegan and her husband Pat of Buffalo, SD, Jinnelle Craig and her husband Carson of Summerville, SC, Darrel Nelson and his wife Lori of Lebanon, TN, Douglas Nelson and his wife Chris of Whitney, TX and Robert Nelson and his wife Donna of Estelline, SD. She is also survived by one foster son, Michael Blumeyer and his wife Dee of Dempster, SD; twenty-six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Cemetery of Estelline.
