Helen C. Hoglund, 90, of Lake Norden, SD moved on to her heavenly home on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society Village in Sioux Falls, SD. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden, SD. A Visitation will be held the night prior from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden, SD.

Helen Cordelia Hoglund was born on November 17, 1932, in Badger, South Dakota. Helen was the youngest of seven children of Ray and Winnie Johnson. She attended school at Badger and Lake Norden, graduating from Lake Norden High School in 1950. She attended North Park College in Chicago to study music.

Helen was united in marriage to Gene Hoglund on September 18, 1954, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. They enjoyed their children and grandchildren and all of their activities. They stayed on the Lake Norden farm until 2003 and then moved into the town of Lake Norden. Gene passed away in 2013 and Helen continued to live in Norden for 8 more years.

She was known for her beautiful gardens and exceptional ability to play the piano and the organ. Helen was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Lake Norden where she played the piano for 65 years. Friends and family in Lake Norden always knew if they came over to Gene and Helen's house there would be good food, laughter, and fellowship.

They raised four children on the farm: Shelley Castillo Eggebraaten, Gail (Brian) Ensberg, Rhonda (Gary) Horsley, and Mick (Shauna) Hoglund

Grandchildren: Laura (Adam) Chandler, Nicholas (Christina) Castillo, Sara (Nicole) Hefel-Ensberg, Anthony (Katie) Castillo, Austin (Adrienne) Horsley, Morgan Hoglund, Nicole Horsley, Ty (Kynedi) Hoglund, Mark Eggebraaten, Lydia (Brett) Smith, Marci (Jesse) Pearson.

Great grandchildren: Jayden, Alijah, Grace, Savanna, Hudson, Archer, Auggie, Atlas, Eden, Logan, Sophia, Oliver, Analiese, Reddick, Aria.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Hoglund, son-in-law Dave Eggebraaten, and granddaughter Abby Horsley.
