(Leake) Womble, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Fanning) Leake, was born May 2, 1916 in Perry, Missouri. She grew up and received her education in Perry and was united in marriage to Wilford M. Womble on October 8, 1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Wilford died in 1954. Helen was employed as the manager of the Dairy Queen in Watertown, South Dakota until she retired in 1988. She died on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Lake Norden at the age of 94 years, 11 months and 20 days. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Watertown. Helen enjoyed knitting, embroidery, visiting with her friends and especially spending time with her great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Patsy Steffensen of Lake Norden, Sue Drenkow of Kirkland, WA; four grandchildren, Kimberly St. John and her husband David of Lake Norden, Kasey Steffensen of Lake Norden, Chris Drenkow and his wife Danica of Bothell, WA, Corey Drenkow of Kirkland, WA; five great grandchildren, Gunner and Greysen St. John of Lake Norden, Carter and Courtlyn Drenkow of Bothell, WA, Brody Steffensen of Watertown; two brothers, Ronald Leake and his wife Paula of Chula Vista, CA, Donald Leake and his wife Ruth of National City, CA; two sisters, Eloise Swank of Monroe, MO and Ruth Painter and her husband Bill of New London, MO; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister.
