Herbert Wayne Weinberg, son of Henry and Emma (Schuldt) Weinberg, was born February 11, 1926 in Rockelm, Wisconsin. As a child he moved with his family to South Dakota and received his education in Brookings County. Herb served in the United States Army from December 21, 1944 until his honorable discharge on November 24, 1946. He was united in marriage to Edna Heibult on February 27, 1948 in Hendricks, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed near Dempster, South Dakota for many years. They moved into Dempster where they owned and operated a trucking business for several years. Edna died on April 14, 1998 and Herb entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in October of 2007. He died there on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 10 days.
He was a member of the Estelline American Legion Post and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Herb also collected Case tractors, enjoyed playing cards, going to auctions and visiting with his army buddies.
Grateful for having shared his life are his son Terry Weinberg and his wife Krecia of Estelline, his daughter Julie Halvorson and her husband Gary of Rogers, AR; three grandchildren, Shane, Samantha and Jakob; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife Edna, his parents and three brothers, Albert, Arthur and George.
