Ida R. Langenfeld Castlewood, South Dakota Funeral Services are 9:30 AM, Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood. Interment Castlewood Cemetery Visitation will be from 5PM to 8PM Friday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood. Ida R. (Haberly) Langenfeld, daughter of Fred and Rosina (Haberle) Haberly was born January 15, 1917 at Castlewood, South Dakota. She grew up in Castlewood and received her education there, graduating from high school in 1935. After graduation she moved to Philip, South Dakota and worked there for a short time before returning to Castlewood. She was united in marriage to George Langenfeld in Castlewood on December 15, 1936. They purchased a caf' in Castlewood and it became known as Judd and Ida's Caf' and Ida operated it for 62 years before retiring in 1998 due to ill health. Ida lived at the Castlewood Assisted Living Center before moving to the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in 2001. She died there on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 29 days. She served on the Castlewood City Council and was also elected the first woman Mayor of Castlewood. She also served on the Castlewood School Board for 23 years and was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ida was honored on May 12, 1993 with a proclamation of "Ida Langenfeld Day." Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Larry Langenfeld of Castlewood, Beverly Siefkes and her husband Roger of Boise, ID, Jerry Langenfeld of Lake Norden, SD, Delores Vetter and her husband Larry of Castlewood, Gloria Ries and her husband Jerome of Dalhart, TX, Wayne Langenfeld and his wife Pam of Watertown, SD and Cynthia Pommer and her husband David of Castlewood; 23 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother Henry Haberly of Estelline; one sister-in-law Mary Haberly of Castlewood; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ida was preceded in death by her husband George in 1972, one son Dick on January 29, 2005, her parents, six brothers, one sister and a good friend Vera Cannon.
