Andrew Schaller, Officiating Interment Hidewood Township Cemetery Rural Estelline, South Dakota Visitation 6PM to 8PM Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline Irene Cecelia (Chamley) Dahl, daughter of Joshua and Julia (Cameron) Chamley, was born April 5th, 1924 at Egan, South Dakota. She attended school for eight years at Egan and then moved with her parents to Hayti, South Dakota. She graduated from Hayti High School and was married to Lester L. Dahl on her birthday, April 5th, 1942. They lived on the Dahl homestead where they raised registered Angus Cattle. In 1972, Irene and Lester moved to Estelline and worked at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center until their retirement. She was a certified nurses aid and a foster mother. Lester died on July 31, 1990 and Irene continued to make Estelline her home. She entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on June 23rd, 2006 and died there on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening and did volunteer work at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Grateful for having shared her life are one daughter, Judith Dahl and her husband Lee of Prior Lake, MN; four sons, James Dahl and his wife Anne of Houston, TX, Larry Dahl and his wife Rita of Estelline, David Dahl of Denver, CO, Dan Dahl and his wife Vicki of Watertown, SD; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Everett Chamley and his wife Mabel of Coos Bay, OR; and a host of other relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter Donna; a grandson Scott; her parents; two brothers, Melvin and Morrie; and two sisters, Evelyn and Mable.
